These awards were originally presented bi-annually, beginning in 2004, by the Asian/Pacific American Librarians Association for books published in the preceding years. The awards are now presented annually. In 2011, a third category (Children's Literature Award) was added.

Buckeye Children's Book Award
The Buckeye Children's Book Award was begun in 1981. Students across Ohio nominate books for the award, and then vote on the nominated books the following year. The program is designed to encourage children in Ohio to read literature critically, to promote teacher and librarian involvement in children's literature programs, and to commend authors of such literature. (See also the Teen Buckeye Book Award below.)

Charlotte Zolotow Award
The Charlotte Zolotow Award, administered by the Cooperative Children's Book Center, is given annually to the author of the best picture book text published in the United States in the preceding year. Established in 1998, the award is named to honor the work of Charlotte Zolotow, a distinguished children's book editor for 38 years with Harper Junior Books, and author of more than 70 picture books.

The E. B. White Read Aloud Award, established by the Association of Booksellers for Children in 2004, honors a book that reflects the universal read aloud standards that were created by the work of the author E. B. White in his classic books for children: Charlotte's Web, Stuart Little, and The Trumpet of the Swan. Awards are given for picture books and middle readers.
