CRJU 4900: Research Issues in Criminal Justice

Welcome!

This guide will be a helpful tool throughout your capstone research.  It will walk you through the research process and highlight helpful resources. If you need help just contact me, your Humanities Librarian, by email or schedule a research appointment. I'm happy to help!

Choosing a Topic

When choosing a research topic, consider the following things:

  • what interests you within the field of criminal justice & criminology
    • need inspiration? look through your textbook or notes
  • whether there is enough preliminary research or information on your topic
    • not sure? conduct pre-research using the advice given here
  • how you can contribute to scholarly conversation around your topic
    • where to start? identify gaps in the research while composing your literature review

For examples of what previous seniors have researched, browse the History & Government student capstones in DigitalCommons.

For advice on narrowing your topic, review Step 1 of the Research Process guide.
