Research Tips in Music Composition

Tip #1

  • When brainstorming a research topic, consider how you can limit the scope to a particular musician or composer, time period, musical style, or geographic region.

Tip #2

  • Start your research early! There are fantastic music resources available in OhioLINK and through InterLibrary Loan, but you need to give yourself time to request them.

Tip #3

  • JSTOR is a great database for music research. Use the advanced search to limit to music, history, or any other applicable disciplines.
