Library Resources in Canvas for Faculty

A guide to help faculty discover how to add library content and librarians to Canvas courses

Add Library Research Tutorials to Your Canvas Course

Did you know the Library has it own Canvas course called "Library Research Tutorials"?

This course contains four modules covering The Researcher's Journey, our framework for teaching students the research process. Each module walks students through the research steps with tips, video tutorials, and a comprehension quiz at the end.

(This content is covered in our First Year Instruction program to equip first year students with foundational research skills.  Students in any course, especially underclassmen, can benefit from these tutorials.)

Your students can interact with this library course in two ways:

  • you can link to the Library Research Tutorials course somewhere in your own Canvas course
  • you can import content from the Library Research Tutorials course into your Canvas course (entire course and/or specific modules)

Link to Library Research Tutorials

Choose this option if you want easy setup and do not need to see which students' activity or quiz scores.

Step 1: Place this link anywhere in your Canvas course: https://cedarville.instructure.com/courses/1922

  • You can link to individual modules if students need to focus on specific steps of The Researcher's Journey.

Import Library Research Tutorials into Course

Choose this option to import the Library Research Tutorials content directly into your Canvas course. This option gives you more control, allowing you to modify quizzes, view quiz results, and set due dates. If you need help, contact your librarian or look at this Canvas Instructor Guide: How do I copy content from another Canvas course using the Course Import tool?
