A guide to using RefWorks

RefWorks

RefWorks​RefWorks is a Web-based bibliography and database manager that allows you to create your own personal database by importing references from the Library catalog and online databases, or manually inputting bibliographic information.

RefWorks is a great timesaver. Once you've stored your references in RefWorks, you can easily import them while writing papers and creating bibliographies.

 

Getting Started with RefWorks

To begin, go to http://www.refworks.com/refworks

1) If you're new to RefWorks, click on Sign Up for a New Account. You should see a screen like the one pictured below 

  • If you're prompted for a Group Code, contact a librarian and they will provide you with one
  • If you already have a RefWorks account, you can click on any of the tabs above to continue

 

2) Enter in your email address, desired login name, and password, then click Next

 

3) Enter your name and then select Area of Focus (your major), and Type of User (Undergraduate Student, Faculty, etc.). Then click Create Account

 

4) You should now see your RefWorks homepage, as illustrated below. Please continue to Creating Folders
