Course Reserves

What is the purpose of Print Reserves?

What are the different checkout periods for Print Reserves?

Almost every item is on strict reserve, unless otherwise noted. The four tiers of checkout periods are:

In addition to textbooks and media, what other types of items are on reserve at the Service Desk?

What are e-Reserves?

E-reserves are usually PDF scans of required readings. All e-Reserves are linked through your course page on CU Learn (Canvas).

What happens if I go to the Service Desk and find out the book I want is currently being used by another student?

Try checking again with the Service Desk at a later time. There is no waitlist for using items on reserve; it is first come, first served. To protect student privacy, we cannot tell you who is currently using the book.

What if my textbook is not on reserve at all?

  • Search OhioLINK and request the textbook if there are available copies

    • Keep in mind, getting books through OhioLINK does not guarantee you access to the book for the whole semester. Other students might request the book while it is checked out to you.  If that happens, you will not be able to renew the book and should return it by its due date to avoid late fines.

  • Check the CU Bookstore website to explore their rental & buying options and outside vendors

  • Suggest a purchase. Fill out the New Materials Request form to request that the CU Library purchases a copy of the textbook. (Please mention that you would like the book on reserve in the Additional Comments field.)
