Copyright & Fair Use

The library can assist with making a "fair use" evaluation of copyrighted materials placed on reserve. Please see explore our Copyright Hub for more information in making fair use determinations, licensing copyrighted content, etc.

Use of student materials

In cases of placing students' papers on reserve, we recommend that faculty secure written permission from the student. A Student Permission form (PDF) is available for you to use.

Use of faculty personal copies

Please bring any personal materials to be placed on reserve to the library Service Desk

Types of print reserves

Strict reserve: may only be used in the library

One day reserve: may be checked out for one day

Three day reserve: may be checked out for three days

One week reserve: may be checked out for one week

Processing

The Library will process materials as quickly as possible. For print reserves, processing times will vary depending on the book's current status (needs to be purchased, already in the collection and available for checkout, etc.). You will be notified when materials are available.
